Guce Tied for the Lead, CSUN Seventh After 36 Holes in Palm Desert

PALM DESERT, Calif. - Senior Clarissa Guce is tied for the lead while her Cal State Northridge teammates are tied for seventh place through 36 holes at the Woming Cowgirl Intercollegiate Saturday at the Classic Club/Troon Golf.

Guce, who is coming off a third place finish at the Birdies for Breast Cancer tournament in Riverside on Tuesday, fired rounds of 69-74 on Saturday. The senior is tied for first at one under-par 143. Her opening round 69 matches her low round of the season.

Cesilie Hagen is tied for 27th at 10-over 154 after posting consecutive rounds of 77 while Elisabeth Haavardsholm is tied for 48th at 13-over 157 after scores of 78-79. Sharon Shin is tied for 58th at 15-over 159 after scores of 82-77 and Ellen Brantberg is tied for 68th at 17-over 161 following rounds of 82-79.

As a team, the Matadors sit seventh in the 20-team field. CSUN carded team rounds of 306-307 and currently trail team-leading Western Carolina (601) by 12 strokes.

The final 18 holes is scheduled for Sunday.
