TARZANA, Calif. - The Cal State Northridge women's golf team carded a final round 315 on Tuesday to finish in 14th-place at the Bruin Wave Invitational at El Caballero C.C.
Playing in a 17-team field chock full of several of the top collegiate teams on the west coast, the Matadors improved each round going from 16th to 15th to finally 14th. The tournament was nearly a home tournament for CSUN as it took place right around the corner in Tarzana.
Senior Clariss Guce was the Matadors' top finisher as she tied for 31st, six spots better than she finished Monday's 36 holes. Guce wound up posting rounds of 78-76-77 to finish at 15-over 231.
Cesilie Hagen also moved up on Tuesday as she fired a final round 78 to finish with rounds of 79-80-78. Hagen tied for 49th at 21-over 237. Arinda Bhanaraksa carded her first round in the 70's on Tuesday which followed up rounds of 84-80 as she finished at 27-over 243.
Sharon Shin opened the day tied for 70th and finished in the same spot after posting scores of 85-78-83 which left her at 30-over 246. Elisabeth Haavardsholm rounded out the Matador scoring as she tied for 73rd at 31-over 247 with rounds of 81-85-81.
USC won the team championship with a one-under 863 while the Trojans' Kyung Kim took individual medalist honors at three-under 213.
