BEAUMONT, Calif. - Katrina Sutton led three Cal State Northridge golfers in the top-20 with a 14th-place finish as the Matadors finished tied for fourth at the Braveheart Classic at Oak Valley G.C.
Monday's first round was rained out so Northridge's first spring tournament was limited to 18 holes on Tuesday. The Matadors carded a team round of 321 which was 16 shots behind team champion Nova Southeastern.
The Matadors were paced by Sutton's 14th-place finish as the senior finished four shots off the pace with a 79. Sutton carded a 39 on the front nine and a 40 on the back nine to finish at seven over-par. Fellow senior Stephanie Aston and freshman Lady Samson both finished tied for 19th at (+8) 80. Aston posted a front-nine 37 and a back-nine while Samson fnished with rounds of 37-43.
Senior Krystina Gillenwater and Individual Sarah Windsor finished tied for 29th at (+10) 82, freshman Kendall Patton finished tied for 70th at (+17) 89 and another Individual Maurissa Medina finished tied for 76th at (+19) 91.
Nova Southeastern took the team title after shooting 305, seven strokes better than Eastern Michigan (312). UC Riverside (316) was third followed by the Matadors and Drake (321). Cal Baptist's Malin Thorberg took home individual honors shooting a (+1) 73.
