Second Round 329 Moves Northridge Up to 11th Place at Anteater Invitational

DOVE CANYON, Calif. - The Cal State Northridge women's golf team posted a nine-shot improvement over Monday's opening round and moved up one spot to 11th place after two rounds at the Anteater Invitational at Dove Canyon G.C.

The Matadors were 12th after an opening round 338 on Monday but carded a second round 329 to move into 11th place heading into Wednesday's final round.

Ashlee Nagamine is the Northridge leader after two rounds as the sophomore is tied for 52nd at (+24) 166. Nagamine carded a second round 81 after an opening round 85 on Monday. Lady Samson and Katrina Sutton are both two shots back of Nagamine at (+26) 168. Samson and Sutton both posted identical 85's on Tuesday after each finished at 83 on Monday.

Also for the Matadors, Maurissa Medina and Kendall Patton are both tied for 60th at (+28) 170. Medina, who posted a first round 90, shaved 10 strokes off her second round score as she came in with an 80 on Tuesday. Patton carved four strokes off her score to post an 83 on Tuesday.

UC Irvine's Jane Chin shot a tournament-low 68 on Tuesday and shares first place with UC Davis' Chelsea Stelzmiller at one under-par 141. The duo are the only players scoring under-par for the tournament.

UC Davis recorded the lowest team total of the day with a 293 and moved into a first place tie with Idaho (303-294) at 597. San Francisco is two shots back in third (599) while Long Beach State is fourth (602) and host UC Irvine moved up two spots to fifth with a 614 (318-296).

The tournament concludes with 18 holes Wednesday in a shotgun start beginning at 8:00 a.m.
