Titans Blitz Matadors 11-0 to Capture Series

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. ---

The Cal State Northridge softball team (10-36, 5-10 Big West) lost 11-0 to Cal State Fullerton in five innings Sunday afternoon in a Big West Conference game at Matador Diamond. The Titans hit 17 singles off four Matador pitchers to claim the series.

Mia Pagano started the game for CSUN and worked around five hits to leave the score tied at 0-0 heading to the third.

Crystal Maas replaced her in the circle to start the inning. After she got the first batter of the inning to fly out, the Titans collected three hits, a walk and a hit batter to score twice.

Brianna Elder replaced her and gave up a two-run single in the third before getting the third out.

The fourth proved even more costly to the Matadors. The first five batters reached safely to score three runs and chase Elder from the circle. Alexa Limon came in and got the first batter she faced to fly out. However, CSUN would commit two errors in the frame to allow another four runners to score.

Tiffini Lucero had the Matadors' only hit of the game. Maas (0-6) gave up four earned runs in 0.1 innings of work. Desiree Ybarra (13-13) had two strikeouts in five innings of work.

Next weekend, CSUN hits the road for the final time in 2012. The Matadors will play a doubleheader at UC Riverside on May 5 and a single game on May 6 with both games slated for a noon start.
