NORTHRIDGE, Calif. ---
The Cal State Northridge softball program will host three camps during the summer of 2013 at Matador Diamond. Led by CSUN head coach and Team USA Junior National Head Coach Tairia Flowers, the Matadors will offer a variety of camps tailored to all skill levels.
Registration for all camps must be made at northridgesoftball.com. Registration by mail or phone will not be accepted.
The first camp will be held on June 23 and is geared towards youth players looking to learn new skills and techniques for all aspects of the game. It costs $40 and runs from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The second date is an advanced camp that runs all day on July 9. The camp is offered to all players looking to continue their careers at the collegiate level. The camp will be open only to the first 45 registrants and costs $200.
The third date is July 10 and will be a summer pitching clinic that will cost $75. The two-hour clinic, which starts at 9 a.m., is geared towards advanced pitchers looking to learn new skills at the position. Each pitcher will need to provide their own catcher and is open only to the first 20 registrants.
The fourth and final date is a summer hitting camp also on July 10. The two-hour session, which will start at noon, is geared towards advanced players looking to get specific work on their offensive game. The camp is open only to the first 45 registrants and will cost $75.
In addition to Coach Flowers, who was a two-time Olympian and national champion at UCLA, the Matador softball staff brings extensive experience and success to the camps. Assistant coach Caitlin Benyi was a multiple All-American and national champion at UCLA while assistant coach Cindy Ball was a standout player who has also coached at Washington and Pacific.
