CSUN Softball Leadoff Dinner Set for Jan. 31

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. ---

With the start of the 2014 season weeks away, the Cal State Northridge softball program will hold it Second Annual Leadoff Dinner at Los Robles Golf Course in Thousand Oaks, Calif., on Friday, Jan. 31. Tickets for the event are $45 and the event, which includes dinner and a silent auction, will start at 6 p.m.

CSUN starts its 2014 season at the Kajikawa Classic hosted by Arizona State University in Tempe, Calif. At the preseason tournament which runs Feb. 7-9, the Matadors will face San Jose State, Oregon State, Seattle, Western Michigan and Colorado State.

Tairia Flowers is in her fourth season as head coach of the Matadors. The squad returns 10 letterwinners and features 11 newcomers, including nine true freshmen, to the roster for 2014.

Last year, CSUN posted the sixth-best turnaround in NCAA Division I and raised their team batting average and on-base percentage by 50 points while also lowering their team ERA by more than a run.
