NORTHRIDGE, Calif. ---
The Cal State Northridge softball team (19-10) lost 4-1 to Pacific Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game at Matador Diamond. Taylor Nate and Abby Linn each had two hits for CSUN, but a late three-run home run lifted the visiting Tigers to the win and snapped the Matadors' six-game winning streak.
Facing their former Big West rival, the Matadors could not generate enough offense despite totaling eight hits. Taylor Glover had a base hit to extend her hitting streak to a team-best 13 games. Nate had CSUN's lone RBI with a single in the bottom of the sixth, raising her season total to 16.
Pacific struck for a run in the top of the fifth and three more in the top of the sixth. That was enough to hand Brianna Elder (14-4) just her fourth loss of the season. The junior went 5.2 innings and allowed five hits and had three strikeouts.
Daphne Pofek tossed the final 1.1 innings for CSUN and allowed a walk. Glover recorded her 13th stolen base of the season, although she was also caught stealing. Carissa Sherman scored the Matadors' lone run, giving her 10 for the season.
The Matadors return to action Sunday with a doubleheader at Matador Diamond. At 11:30 a.m., CSUN faces Pacific and then takes on Bakersfield at 2 p.m.
