NORTHRIDGE, Calif. ---
The Cal State Northridge softball team (29-22, 6-9 Big West) lost 10-0 in five innings to Long Beach State Sunday in the third and final game of a Big West Conference series at Matador Diamond. Freshman Taylor Glover had a single and a stolen base, moving within two steals of setting a new Division I single-season record, but the Matadors could not stop the 49ers offense.
Things turned sour for CSUN quickly Sunday. The first three 49ers reached base and after a popout on the infield, Ashlynn Booker blasted a grand slam to center field. LBSU added five more runs in the second and piled on 10th in the fourth inning.
At the plate, Glover managed the only base hit off LBSU starter Amanda Hansen. She dropped down a bunt single in the first and then stole second. She has 18 stolen bases on the year and needs two more to set a new program Division I record for a single season.
Hansen had two strikeouts in the shutout victory.
CSUN heads to Honolulu this week for a Big West series against Hawai'i. The Matadors and Rainbow Wahine will play a single game on Friday, May 2 and a doubleheader on Saturday, May 3.
