CSUN Posts 6-1 Victory over Cal State Stanislaus

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. ---

The Cal State Northridge women's tennis team (2-1) defeated Cal State Stanislaus 6-1 Friday afternoon at the Matador Tennis Complex. The Matadors lost only three games in three doubles matches and  only two sets in six singles matches to defeat the Warriors.

Hitting the court for the first time since Feb. 2, Northridge came out firing in doubles play to take an early advantage. Seniors Sabrina Man-Son-Hing and Anna Yang took an 8-1 decision at the top draw.

Senior Maria Pistalu and junior Lorraine Cheung blanked the Warriors in the second match. Finally, sophomore Corinne Schnyder and freshman Leslie Chang won 8-2 in the third match.

In singles, the Matadors won the No. 2-6 draws and all coming in straight sets. Chang made her varsity singles debut and won 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 6 draw. Jessica Warren was one of three Matadors to not drop a set in singles play. Only Pistalu at the top draw was unable to secure a point as she lost in straight sets.
