Mariah Counts reached finals in all four throwing events at the Big West Championships (May 10-11) ... finished on the podium as she took second in the javelin after edging out teammate Marissa Rossi ... finished with a best of 138-10 (42.32) which is just off the lifetime-best 139-4 (42.47) she threw at the Texas Invitational (Apr. 13) ... her toss in Texas ranks fifth on the all-time CSUN outdoor list ... also finished among the top-10 in the discus (sixth), hammer (eighth) and shot put (10th) ... top throw in the discus of 156-5 (47.69) was a lifetme-best ... season-best mark in the hammer (162-5) came in the season-opening Northridge Invitational (Mar. 16) and season-best in the shot (44-8) came at the Adidas/Steve Scott Invitational in Irvine (Apr. 28) ... was one of five Matador women named to the Big West All-Academic Team. INDOOR SEASON: posted an indoor best in the shot put of 40-5 (12.32) to finish second at the NYU Team Challenge (Jan. 19). 

Counts qualified for both the shot put and discus at the Big West Championships (May 12) ... finished fourth in the shot put after tossing a season-best of 43-7.75 (13.30) in the final ... also placed eighth in the discus with a top mark of 134-11 (41.12) ... season-best in the discus was 138-6 (42.21) which came in an 11th-place finish at the Steve Scott Invitational (Apr. 29) ... also had a season-best of 127-7 (38.89) in the hammer ... played for the Matador women's volleyball team under Jeff Stork in the fall of 2011.

Competed in both volleyball and track & field at Poway High School in Poway, Calif. ... was an outside hitter for the Titans for three seasons ... earned team MVP honors in both 2009 and 2010 ... was the team leader in kills and aces as well as being named Most Inspirational ... competed as a thrower for the track & field team ... was the CIF champion in the shot put as well as being named Most Valuable Female Thrower from 2009-11 ... graduated in 2011 with a 3.2 grade point average.
