NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - For the first time since 2011, CSUN will send women's competitors to the NCAA Track & Field Championships. The 4x100 meter relay team of Le'Shel Vines, Hafsatu Kamara, Lexis Lambert and Marie Veale will open competition Wednesday at 4:15 p.m.
The championships will be held June 11-14 at Historic Hayward Field and ESPN Networks will cover all four days of the meet. Wednesday and Thursday will be on ESPN3.com beginning at 3:55 p.m., while Friday and Saturday wil be on ESPNU starting at 4:30 and 2 p.m. respectively.
The Matador quartet ran a season-best 44.72 at the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Fayetteville, Ark. on May 31 which put CSUN in third place in heat three and ensuring a trip to Eugene, Ore. this week.
CSUN will be in the second of three heats in the 4x100 relay as the Matadors are tied with Iowa for the 18th-best time in the field. CSUN will be in lane two along with Kansas (44.75), Arizona State (44.53), Oregon (43.47), LSU (43.94), Ohio State (43.92), Baylor (44.37) and TCU (44.61). Texas A&M brings the fastest time in the nation into the prelims as the Aggies have run 43.00.
The last CSUN woman to participate in the NCAA Championships was Sherrina Lofton in the heptathon in 2011.
