AUSTIN, Texas - Desirae Gonder's sixth-place finish in the heptathlon highlighted day two of the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium at the University of Texas.
Gonder scored a season-best 5,183 points which was just 20 points off her personal-best of 5,203.
She posted 3,109 points on day one Wednesday after finishing 13th in the 100 meter hurdles (14.83, 864 pts.), finishing second in the high jump with a season-best 5-9.75 (1.77) which earned her 941 points. She completed day one with a 19th-place finish in the shot put (28-2.75, 438 pts.) and a sixth place finish in the 200 meters, running a personal-best 25.23 to earn 866 points.
On Thursday, Gonder wrapped up the competition with a seventh place finish in the long jump (18-8.50, 739 pts.), an 11th place finish in the javelin (105-10, 519 pts.) and a fourth place finish in the 800 meters after clocking a PR of 2:22.03 to earn an additional 786 points.
Both posted season-bests in the 100 meters as Robinson ran 11.00 and Gonzales ran 11.40. Robinson also ran a season-best in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.23 while Gonzales clocked a personal-best 14.78.
Both excelled in the high jump as Gonzales matched his PR with a height of 6-7.50 (2.02) to tie for first and Robinson cleared a PR of 6-4 (1.93).
Gonzales also finished second in the javelin with a toss of 192-4 (58.67) while Robinson's best finish, in addition to his second place finish in the 110 hurdles, was a sixth place finish in the long jump (23-5.50).
Also for the Matadors in the first two days of the meet, Jasmine Cox finished fourth in the 800 meters in a time of 2:12.41, Vanice Colbert finished 27th in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:04.57, LaShandra Batiste was 32nd in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:04.99 and Morgan Bogard finished 12th in the hammer throw with a mark of 178-9 (54.48).
The Texas Relays continue through Saturday as a majority of the Matadors' 20 athletes will compete over the next two days.
