Matadors Sweep Boise State to Wrap Up Bronco Invitational

BOISE, Idaho - Britney Graff had a match high 14 kills and Angela Hupp added 12 as Cal State Northridge completed play at the Bronco Invitational with a 25-16, 25-22, 25-19 sweep of Boise State on Saturday.

After falling to Tulsa on Friday, the Matadors (2-1) won their final two matches on Saturday to finish as runner-up at the Bronco Invitational. Northridge defeated Northern Arizona in five sets earlier on Saturday.

Graff and Hupp, who both were named to the All-Tournament Team, were all the offense the Matadors needed Saturday night as the two combined for 26 kills. Graff, who pounded 16 kills against NAU in the morning match, added 14 kills in 30 swings against the Broncos for a .333 hitting clip. The freshman from Canyon Lake also added six digs and two blocks. Hupp had her second straight double-double with 12 kills (.161) and 13 digs while setter Sam Orlandini posted 35 assists to go with a career-high five aces and six digs.

Northridge out-hit Boise State in the first set .310 to -.040 which set the tone for the the match. The Matadors' hitting dropped in the second set (.171) but Northridge managed enough offense to pull out the 25-22 win. In the final set, the Matadors hit .235 and had four aces to close the match with the 25-19 win.

Liz Harden and Breann Nesselhuf led the Broncos with six kills apiece while Harden hit a solid .417.

Cal State Northridge continues tournament play next weekend as the Matadors head to San Francisco to take part in the USF Asics/Coca Cola Invitational.
