Matadors Drop USF Asics Finale to San Diego State

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Cal State Northridge dropped its second match on Saturday and third in the tournament as the Matadors lost in four sets to San Diego State 25-17, 23-25, 25-19, 25-21 to wrap up play at the USF Asics Challenge at War Memorial Gym.
The Matadors (2-4) came away from the tournament 0-3 after falling to San Francisco in four sets on Friday and in three to Rice earlier on Saturday. The Aztecs (4-2) finish second behind Rice.
Williams led the Matadors with 12 kills (.184) and was one of three Matador hitters to reach double figures. Senior Angela Hupp, who was the lone Northridge player on the All-Tournament Team, added 10 kills (.242) as did Britney Graff (.056). Hupp (10 kills, 10 digs) and setter Sam Orlandini (34 assists, 10 digs) both had double-doubles in the loss. Libero Monica McFarland posted 20 digs for Northridge.
The Matadors hit very well in Friday's loss to San Francisco but struggled for the entire match against Rice and then hit just .129 against San Diego State.
Three Aztecs had double figure kill totals led Lauren Salisbury's match-high 13.
Cal State Northridge plays its third and final tournament of the season next weekend as the Matadors travel to Pullman, Wash. to participate at the Nike Cougar Challenge at Washington State.
