SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Freshman Britney Graff tallied a team-high seven kills but Cal State Northridge dropped a straight set (25-18, 25-17, 25-21) decision at Cal Poly on Friday night.
With Friday's loss, the Matadors (8-21, 4-11 Big West) drop one-half game behind Cal Poly (9-20, 5-11 Big West) for seventh place in the conference standings.
Graff's seven kills (.222) was enough to lead Northridge on a night the Matadors hit .149 as a team. Angela Hupp, Janet Alvarado and Lynda Morales each added five kills with Hupp also dishing out 19 assists to go with one ace and six digs. Morales added five block assists in the loss.
With Friday's win, Cal Poly has now swept both conference matches from the Matadors for the third straight season and the Mustangs have won the last nine match between the two teams.
Dominique Olowalafe paced the Mustangs with a match-high 12 kills while hitting .647 and Jennifer Keddy chipped in eight kills (.467) in the win.
Cal State Northridge wraps up the 2009 season on Saturday as the Matadors travel to UC Santa Barbara. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
