Northridge, Calif. – The nationally-ranked Cal State Northridge water polo team hits the road again this weekend.
Two weeks ago, the Matadors opened the 2012 campaign with four games at the UC Santa Barbara Invitational. Last week, CSUN competed in the Cal Baptist Invitational.
The Northridge caravan now is heading to the UC San Diego Invitational (Feb. 11-12). Cal State Northridge, ranked 19th in the nation, will play four games during the two-day tournament. The first contest is a rematch against #15 Hartwick College at Noon on Saturday. Both teams played each other at the Cal Baptist Invitational last weekend with the Hawks recording a 14-11 double overtime decision over the Matadors. Freshman Marisa Young scored a season-high five goals while another freshman, Katie Kammer, added a pair of goals for Cal State Northridge.
If Cal State Northridge defeats Hartwick, the Matadors will face either ninth-ranked San Diego State or Sonoma State at 5:20 p.m. at the Canyonview Pool at UCSD. If CSUN loses to Hartwick, the Matadors will face the loser of the San Diego State vs Sonoma State game at 4:00 p.m.
Sunday pool play (two games) will be determined by Friday's results. For complete information on the UC San Diego Invitational, go to UCSDTritons.com.
