Northridge, Calif. – Another road trip, another water polo tournament.
This time, the nationally-ranked Cal State Northridge Matadors travel this weekend (Feb. 25-26) to the UC Irvine Invitational.
The 16-team tournament will include top-ranked and defending NCAA champion Stanford, #2 USC, #3 UCLA, #4 California, #5 Arizona State, #6 Hawai'i, #7 UC Irvine, #8 San Jose State, #9 San Diego State, #10 Loyola Marymount, #12 Michigan, #13 UC Davis, #15 UC Santa Barbara, #19 UC San Diego and #20 Long Beach State.
Cal State Northridge, ranked 17th-ranked in the nation, will play on February 25 at 11:30 a.m. against third-ranked UCLA at the UCI Aquatics Center. The winner of the CSUN-UCLA game will play at 4:30 p.m. against either sixth-ranked Hawai'i or 12th-ranked Michigan. The loser of the CSUN-UCLA game will play at 5:45 p.m. against the loser of the Hawai'i-Michigan contest.
Tournament play at the UC Irvine Tournament will continue with two games on February 26 either at the UCI Pool or at Corona Del Mar High School.

This will be the fourth tournament Cal State Northridge has played in this year. Thus far in 2012, the Matadors have participated in the UCSB Invitational, the Cal Baptist Invitational and at the UC San Diego Invitational.
Cal State Northridge is currently 3-8.
Freshman Marisa Young has emerged as the team leader in scoring with 19 goals. Young has scored at least one goal in eight of the team's eleven games. Young, who graduated from Fountain Valley High School, has scored at least two goals in five games. That includes five goals against #16 Hartwick, and three goals against ninth-ranked San Diego State, #15 UC Santa Barbara and a second game against Hartwick.
Other double-digit scorers are Jenny Jamison with 18 goals and Lindsy Nelson with eleven goals.
Several Big West Conference schools are nationally-ranked in this week's CWPA national poll … UC Irvine is ranked seventh, followed by #13 UC Davis, #15 UC Santa Barbara, #17 Cal State Northridge and 20th-ranked Long Beach State.
