Northridge, Calif. – Cal State Northridge used a balanced scoring attack to defeat Concordia (Irvine), 14-10, in a women's water polo game on Tuesday night at Matador Pool.
Ironically, Ferreira and Nelson each scored three goals to lead 13th-ranked Cal State Northridge to a 13-8 victory over Marist College earlier in the day.
Seven different Matador players scored at least one goal in the win over Marist. Eight different Matador players scored at least goal against Concordia.
In the win over Concordia, CSUN led from start-to-finish. The Matadors led, 2-0, after the first period, and extended the lead to 7-4 at halftime, and 10-6 at the end of the third period.
Against Marist, the game was close throughout the first three periods. The Matadors led 3-2 after the first period, 7-6 at halftime, and 9-8 at the end of three periods.
But the CSUN offense and defense clicked in the fourth period. The Matadors outscored the Red Foxes, 4-0, in the final frame.
Cal State Northridge is now 19-8.
