#13 Cal State Northridge Hosts #20 Pacific In Big West Contest

Northridge, Calif. – The Cal State Northridge women's water polo team, ranked 13th in the nation for a second straight week, hosts #20 Pacific in a Big West Conference game on Saturday, March 23, at Matador Pool. Game time is Noon.

CSUN has won four straight games to increase its season record to 19-8. The Matadors are 1-1 in Big West Conference competition.

Lindsy Nelson, Jenny Jamison and Marisa Young provide the 1-2-3 scoring punch for CSUN. Nelson has a team-leading 60 goals while Jamison and Young have scored 40 goals apiece.

Kiernan Davis has 219 saves, eighth-best for a single season in school history. 

Pacific is ranked 20th in the nation with a 15-7 overall record. The Tigers are 0-0 in Big West Conference competition.

Brydie Pye and Taylor Adair provide the 1-2 scoring punch for UOP. Pye leads Pacific with 42 goals while Adair has scored 32 times this season.

Pacific goalkeeper Michele Relton is putting together one of the best seasons in UOP history. Relton has racked up 252 blocks in 22 matches and has recorded double-digit saves in 18 games.

Matador Memo …

All eight water polo teams in the conference are nationally-ranked … That includes #6 San Diego State, #7 UC Irvine, #8 Hawaii, #9 Long Beach State, #13 Cal State Northridge, #15 UC Santa Barbara, #17 UC Davis and #20 Pacific … CSUN started the year ranked 16th in the nation followed by three straight weeks ranked 17th … The current ranking of 13th for CSUN is its highest ranking this year … It is the second straight week that CSUN has been ranked 13th in the nation … Previous to that, CSUN had been ranked 15th nationally for four straight weeks … UC Irvine will host this season's Big West Tournament on April 26-28.
