#13 Cal State Northridge Falls At #7 UC Irvine, 6-4

Irvine, Calif. – Cal State Northridge took a 1-0 first period lead, forced seventh-ranked UC Irvine into missing its first seven shots, but the Anteaters' defense proved to be too strong through the remainder of the Big West women's water polo contest.

UCI shutout the Matadors in the second period to take a 2-1 halftime lead, and eventually took a 5-3 advantage in the third period.

UC Irvine eventually scored a 6-4 decision over CSUN on Sunday afternoon at the Anteaters Aquatics Complex.

Marisa Young carried the scoring load for Cal State Northridge with three goals. Kelcie Ferreira added a goal for the Matadors, who fell to 20-10 overall and 2-3 in Big West competition.

UC Irvine is 16-8 overall and 4-1 in the conference.
