#7 Cal State Northridge Defeats Azusa Pacific In Home Opener

Northridge, Ca. – Lindsy Duncan scored a game-high four goals to lead seventh-ranked Cal State Northridge to a 12-7 victory over Azusa Pacific in the 2014 season home opener for the Matadors on Wednesday afternoon at Matador Pool.

Seven different CSUN players scored at least one goal. Melissa Doll and Jenny Jamison each scored two goals.

The Cougars scored the game's first goal but the Matadors scored five straight goals over the next two periods to enjoy a lead they never surrendered.

CSUN led at halftime, 7-4.

The Matadors extended the lead to 9-4 with 4:48 remaining in the third period, but the Cougars rallied with three straight goals to pull within two goals of CSUN at 9-7.

CSUN's offense went into high gear with three straight goals by Jamison, Kelcie Ferreira and Duncan to close out the 12-7 victory.

Kiernan Davis collected eight saves.

Cal State Northridge, winners of six straight games, hosts Claremont Mudd-Scripps at 7:00 pm at Matador Pool.
