Cal State Northridge Beats Indiana, Loses to California At Michigan Invitational

Ann Arbor, Mi - It was a day of ups and downs for the nationally-ranked Cal State Northridge women's water polo team on Sunday at the Michigan Invitational.

In the first game of the day, Kirra Kirlander tallied a game-high two goals to lead the 14th-ranked Matadors to its first victory of the season, a 6-4 decision over Indiana.

Later in the day, the Matadors faced one of the top teams in the nation, the fifth-ranked Golden Bears from the University of California. Cal rushed to a 3-0 first period lead and led at halftime, 7-1, to enroute to a 9-5 victory over CSUN. Tara McGinley led the Matador attack with three goals. Renee Gargiulo scored a goal while Kylander picked up her fourth goal in two games.
