La Jolla, Calif. - A 3-1 won-loss record over the two-day UCSD Triton Invitational produced a fifth place finish for 12th-ranked Cal State Northridge.
On Sunday afternoon, CSUN beat UC Santa Barbara, 8-3, following a 14-6 win over Cal State Bakersfield earlier in the day.
Against the Gauchos, six different CSUN players scored at latest one goal. Sydney Sonoda led the attack with two goals.
Jillian Stapf had nine saves.
Cal State Northridge led 2-1 after one period, but a 3-0 second period resulted in a 5-1 halftime lead.
On Sunday morning, the Matadors scored a 14-6 victory over 18th-ranked Cal State Bakersfield.
No information was provided by host school UC San Diego, but a check of the Cal State Bakersfield website indicated that the Matadors jumped to a 5-1 first period lead, and led 6-1 at halftime.
Cal State Northridge broke open the game in the third period, outscoring the Roadrunners, 6-1.
