Tenth-ranked Cal State Northridge Downs Cal Lutheran, 11-1

Thousand Oaks, Calif. - Sophomore Whitney Delgado continued to dominate the scoring table for the nationally-ranked Cal State Northridge women's water polo team.

Delgado, a sophomore, scored a game-high four goals to lead the tenth-ranked Matadors to an 11-1 victory over Cal Lutheran on Saturday afternoon at the Cal Lutheran Invitational.

Earlier in the day, Delgado scored a career-high six goals against sixth-ranked Arizona State.

Delgado now has a team-leading 37 goals for the season.

The Matadors led 2-1 after the first period, but then scored ten straight goals over the next three periods to earn their 12th victory in 17 games.

Delgado has now scored at least one goal in 16 of the 17 games this year.

Earlier on Saturday, Cal State Northridge gave it a good effort, but the Matadors fell to sixth-ranked Arizona State at the Cal Lutheran Invitational.

Delgado scored a career-high six goals.

Cal State Northridge kept it close compared to ASU's drubbing of CSUN, 14-4, at last weekend's UC Irvine Invitational. This time, the Matadors trailed only 2-1 after one period, 6-4 at halftime, and 9-6 after three periods. Cal State Northridge outscored the Sun Devils, 2-1, in the final frame.

Cal State Northridge finishes the day with a 4:00 p.m. contest against Pomona Pitzer College at Orange Christian High School.

Cal State Northridge is now 12-5.
