Cal State Northridge Records 100th Victory In School History

Northridge, Calif. - The nationally-ranked Cal State Northridge women's water polo team recorded its 100th victory in school history, all under the direction of head coach Molly Barnes, as the 14th ranked Matadors beat Bucknell, 13-9, in a non-conference game on Thursday afternoon at Matador Pool.

Chelsea Curran, who scored six goals in two wins over Indiana and Occidental on Tuesday, added four more goals to her season total against the visiting Bisons. Her first goal came with eleven seconds left in the first period as Cal State Northridge raced to a 3-1 lead.

Bucknell outscored the Matadors, 3-1, in the second period to tie the game at 4-4 at halftime.

However, a four goal outburst in the third period, two of which were scored by Jessica Coy gave the Matadors an 8-5 lead after three periods.

Cal State Northridge added another five goals in the final period, including two goals by Curran at 3:22 and 2:05 to seal the Matador victory, their seventh of the season against nine losses.
