Stockton, Ca - Sydney Sonoda scored a career-high three goals to lead the 13th ranked Cal State Northridge women's water polo team to a 7-6 overtime victory over Pacific in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game on Friday afternoon at the Chris Kjeldsen Pool.
Cal State Northridge raced to a 3-1 lead in the first period, and held their two-goal margin at halftime, 4-2. However, in the second half, the Tigers outscored the Matadors, 3-1, to send the game into overtime.
In the first overtime, the Matadors produced two goals, and held on for the victory.
The Matadors raised their record to 9-10 overall and 1-4 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.
Saturday at noon, the Matadors travel to the University of California to face the fourth-ranked Golden Bears in Berkeley.
