Long Beach, Calif. - The two-year reign for Cal State Northridge as Big West Conference regular season champions officially came to an end on a hot Sunday afternoon when the 14th-ranked Matador women's water polo team suffered an 11-8 upset loss at 19th-ranked Long Beach State.
Just like Saturday's game at UC Irvine, the third period proved to be fatal for the Matadors. Long Beach State scored three unanswered goals to start the third frame. The 49ers eventually outscored CSUN, 4-1, in the third period to take a 10-5 lead.
