NORTHRIDGE, CA - A final round 308 was good enough to keep the CSUN women's golf team in seventh place Tuesday after the final round of the Sacramento State Invitational.
The tournament, held at Sierra View Country Club in Sacramento, was one of the Matadors' final tuneups before the Big West Championship in mid-April.
Sophomore Shenna DeLeon led CSUN by posting her first top-20 finish of the season and second of her career. DeLeon, who also had a pair of top 10 finshes as a freshman in 2014-15, finished in a tie for 12th at 12-over 228. She followed up rounds of 76 and 75 on Monday with a five-over 77 Tuesday. Outside of five bogeys, DeLeon had pars on 13 of 18 holes in the final round.
Freshman Ysabel Tran moved four spots up the leaderboad Tuesday finishing in a tie for 33rd at 19-over 235. Tran's final round six-over 78 followed up Monday rounds of 80-77. Arinda Bhanaraksa and Cesilie Hagen each tied for 37th at 20-over 236. Bhanaraksa was consistent the entire tournament posting rounds of 79-79-78 while Hagen closed with an 82 after rounds of 78-76 on Monday. Cake Phuchanbanchob finished a stroke back at 21-over 237 after posting scores of 87-75-75.
As a team, the Matadors tied with Seattle at 924. CSUN wound up with rounds of 313-303-308 to finish just five strokes out of the top five. San Francisco led from start to finish as the Dons held off Nevada by eight shots. Individually, Vanessa Ha of USF took medalist honors after winning on the second hole of the playoff.
CSUN next competes at the Bobcat Spring Invitational in Goodyear, AZ (Apr. 11-12).
