Diana Hoffman was a member of the inaugural class inducted into the CSUN Athletics Hall of Fame in 1981. Hoffman was a standout volleyball player and a member of the women’s basketball team at San Fernando Valley State (CSUN) from 1964 to 1966. She went on to serve as head women's volleyball coach at CSUN from 1977 to 1978.

Under Hoffman, San Fernando Valley State volleyball finished 7-7 overall in 1977 and 8-9 in 1978. The Matadors finished 12-8 in conference play in Hoffman's two seasons at the helm.

As a player, Hoffman was a team captain of the Matadors' AIAW national championship team in 1965 and was an alternate on the 1964 and 1968 U.S. Olympic teams. She played for the Long Beach Shamrocks volleyball team for 12 years and captained the team for eight of those seasons. A setter, Hoffman led the Shamrocks to national championships six times and was an alternate on the Women’s Olympic Volleyball Team in 1964 and 1968. She also earned All-American status seven times.

A member of the WAIAW Volleyball Sport Committee and the California Collegiate Athletic Association’s conference representative in 1976-77, Hoffman earned her bachelor's degree from CSUN in 1966 and a master's in 1980. Following her playing and coaching career, Hoffman began a teaching career at Olive Vista Junior High in 1967.
