Jack Dyck

John "Jack" Dyck was inducted into the CSUN Athletics Hall of Fame in 1992. Dyck was a three-year letterwinner for the San Fernando Valley State/CSUN Men's Basketball team in 1972-73, 1973-74, and 1974-75. Dyck was a Matador from 1971-1976, during which he played basketball (71-75) and volleyball (72-76).

His basketball efforts earned him All-American and All-CCAA honors in 1975, and he left the school as the career leader in assists with 235 in 75 career games. He was also a four-year starter on the volleyball team as an opposite hitter and was voted All-Region in 1975 and 1976.
After his collegiate career, Dyck played professional basketball in the European league for Klub Klosterneuburg in Klosternburg Austria from 1976-1979. The team won the National Championships in 1978 and 1979. Â
While basketball has been a big part of his coaching career, Dyck was an assistant basketball coach at CSUN during the 1975-76 season; he has also coached volleyball for many years. His volleyball ties trace back to his time at CSUN. After his senior season, Dyck not only served as a coach to the Matador basketball team, but he also played club volleyball at the school in 1976.
Dyck worked as a USA Volleyball youth coach for 28 years, and his team qualified for the Junior Olympics 14 times. In 2014, he spent his first year in retirement as the volunteer assistant coach at the University of Arizona. That season, the Wildcats finished third in the Pac-12, winning 24 matches, and were ranked in the top 15 in the national rankings. Dyck has also coached at the Zona club volleyball team for several years.

Dyck, who graduated from CSUN with a bachelor of science degree in 1975, kinesiology. spent 13 years at Beverly Hills High School as an athletic director, boys basketball coach, and girls volleyball coach before moving to Sandpoint, Idaho, where he was activities director and boys basketball coach from 1992-2004.
