Jim Malkin

Jim Malkin was inducted into the CSUN Athletics Hall of Fame in 1982. Malkin was a legendary forward for the San Fernando Valley State College (CSUN) Men's Basketball team from 1959 to 1962.
Malkin was one of the first true stars of the Matadors' basketball program, establishing benchmarks that lasted for decades. He scored  1,292 career points, holding the school's all-time scoring record for 32 years until it was broken by Andre Chevalier in 1994. He currently ranks 10th on the all-time scoring list.
Upon concluding his college career, Malkin set eight CSUN career records and six single-season records. During his first season (1959-60), he averaged 19.7 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. Over 74 career games at SFVS, he maintained a career average of 17.5 points per game.
Malkin, who was also inducted into the Los Angeles Valley College Athlete Hall of Fame in 2012, did not pursue a career in professional basketball. Instead, he transitioned into a 35-year career as a dedicated local educator, working as a high school English teacher, basketball coach, and school administrator in the region.
