Michael McAndrew was inducted into the CSUN Athletics Hall of Fame in 1992. McAndrew is a legendary former soccer player for the Matadors who played under head coach Marwan Ass'ad from 1983 to 1986.
McAndrew earned All-CCAA (California Collegiate Athletic Association) honors four times during his collegiate career. He wrapped up his final season in 1986.
He set the school's all-time career assist record during his tenure as a dominant midfielder and playmaker. Known for critical game-winners, including a famous 30-yard overtime goal with 12 seconds remaining to defeat BYU 1-0 in 1985.
While highly praised by his coaches as a world-class talent capable of playing professionally overseas, he chose to focus on his education, graduating from CSUN in 1988 with a degree in engineering.
