Michele Lee Hampton

Michele Lee Hampton was inducted into the CSUN Hall of Fame in 1990. She is widely regarded as one of the greatest female athletes in the history of the CSUN Matadors athletic program.
Hampton earned All-American honors 14 times during her dominant collegiate career and won 12 NCAA Division II individual and relay titles under legendary coach Pete Accardy. Additionally, Hampton set four NCAA records during her tenure, helping lead the Matadors to an NCAA Team Championship. Hampton competed and placed at the highest level across multiple events, including the 200 Free, 500 Free, 1650 Free, and 200 Backstroke.
As a freshman, Hampton won four individual events at the NCAA Championships. In her sophomore season, she broke the national record while winning the 500-yard freestyle and placed second in the 200-yard freestyle. By her junior year, she continued her streak by placing second in the 1650-freestyle and third in both the 200-backstroke and 500-freestyle.
Hampton graduated from CSUN in 1985Â with a bachelor's degree in Radio/TV and Communications.
