Finnigan-Rahn spent four seasons on the volleyball squad for San Fernando Valley State/CSUN, winning the 1975 AIAW (Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women) National Volleyball Championship. One year later, she participated in the 1976 NCAA Track & Field Championships as a member of several relay teams, as well as in the javelin and shot put.
In total, Finnigan Rahn earned eight varsity letters in track & field and volleyball. A 1975 CSUN graduate with a degree in Kinesiology, she has turned her focus to coaching since graduating CSUN.
Finnigan-Rahn has spent 16 years as a high school volleyball coach for the boys' and/or girls' teams. Finnigan-Rahn has also coached for eight years at the community college level and spent many summers working at youth volleyball camps.
Finnigan-Rahn continues to compete in various adult recreational indoor and beach leagues and tournaments. She has been honored as a three-time USAV All-American.
In 1989, Finnigan Rahn was honored by the USAV as a “Leader in Volleyball” for her dedication and service to the sport. She has also volunteered her time and efforts to the following organizations: Girl Scouts of America, L.A. Parks and Recreation Department, and L.A. City School District, Neighborhood Watch, March of Dimes, Leukemia Society, American Heart Association, Ronald McDonald House, L.A. Community College District, Junior Olympics, and her church.
