Rusty Rock was inducted into the CSUN Athletics Hall of Fame in 1983. Rock was a legendary Hall of Fame gymnast during the mid-1960s for San Fernando Valley State College (CSUN).
Before his standout career at CSUN under gymnastics coach Bill Vincent, Rock grew up performing in an amateur balancing act team during grammar school. He went on to compete for Canoga Park High School before staying local to join the Matadors, cementing himself as one of the pioneers of CSUN's rich early gymnastics tradition.
Rock won the 1966 NCAA National Championship on the horizontal bars (high bar), competing across both Division I and Division II levels. He was also crowned the 1965 CCAA All-Around Champion and captured the conference title on the horizontal bars.
Rock graduated from San Fernando Valley State College (CSUN) in 1966. Following his collegiate career, Rock was the national professional bars champion in 1967.
