Tony Davila was inducted into the CSUN Athletics Hall of Fame in 2004. A unique two-sport coach, Davila served as women's tennis head coach from 1981 to 1997 and as assistant baseball coach from 1969 to 1980.

A decorated student-athlete, Davila was a three-time All-CCAA selection and two-time All-District honoree as a third baseman for the San Fernando Valley State (CSUN) baseball team. He lettered three seasons with the Matador baseball team from 1962 to 1964, playing for CSUN Hall of Fame coach Stan Charnofsky.

After his time with the baseball team, Davila signed a professional baseball contract with the Los Angeles Angels. Davila went on to spend four seasons competing in the Angels' organization before returning to CSUN as an assistant coach to Hall of Famer Bob Hiegert in 1969.

With Davila on the Matador baseball bench, CSUN would capture the program's first NCAA Division II National Championship in 1970.

Davila would also coach the Matadors' women's tennis team that won the 1982 NCAA Division II Championship and led the tandem of Wendy Luhmann and Cindy Woodhouse to the NCAA Doubles Championship as well. The CSUN women's tennis team also finished as national runner-up for the team title in 1986. His teams won six conference titles, and Davila posted 241 career wins as women's tennis head coach.
