Arvis Greene Named AVCA Honorable Mention All-American

NORTHRIDGE, CA - CSUN junior opposite Arvis Greene was named to the 2017 AVCA All-America Team Monday becoming the first Matador since 2010 to garner All-America accolades.
Greene had a breakout season for CSUN in 2017 as he led the Matadors in kills (359) and kills per set (3.99) while also adding career-highs in aces (13), digs (74) and blocks (51). The junior from Los Angeles (University HS) reached double figures in kills 18 times in 25 matches, highlighted by a career-high 26-kill performance in CSUN's 3-0 sweep over No. 7 Stanford.
"We're extremely excited that Arvis received All-America recognition," said CSUN head coach Jeff Campbell. "Throughout the years he has really put in the time and effort to play as well as he did this year. Arvis really did a great job for us and was instrumental in many of our wins this season. As a team, we're moving in the right direction and I expect big things from Arvis and all the guys next season."
Greene is CSUN's 23rd men's volleyball All-American dating back to 1985 when Chuck English earned the program's first All-America honor by Volleyball Magazine. Neil Coffman was the first CSUN player to earn AVCA All-America honors in 1991 and would be followed by 15 Matadors, most recently Kevin McKniff and Jacek Ratajczak in 2010.
