NORTHRIDGE, CA---
CSUN Men's Basketball has signed incoming freshman Lamine Diane, head coach Reggie Theus announced. Diane, a forward from Dakar, Senegal, comes to the Matadors from Findlay Prep High School in Henderson, NV and will be eligible to suit up for the Matadors beginning in the 2017-18 season.Â
Â
"Lamine is a highly recruited player that's super athletic," said Theus. "He is 6-foot-6, long and wiry, and I'm expecting big things from him. With the addition of Lamine from a high-profile school such as Findlay Prep, I'm excited about the young talent that we are assembling for next year's class."
Â
Playing the last two seasons with national power Findlay Prep, Diane helped the Pilots post a 33-4 record and earn a trip to the semifinals of the Dick's Sporting Goods High School Nationals in 2016-17. After scoring 8.5 points per game in his first season with the team, Diane doubled that point total by averaging 17.5 points to go along with 6.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.7 steals as a senior. Diane also guided Findlay Prep to a national Top 10 ranking throughout last season.Â
Along with his prep career, Diane has participated in several basketball showcases including the prestigious Adidas Nations, the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions and the Cancer Research Classic where he was named the Most Valuable Player. At the Adidas Nations event last year, he led the field in scoring, averaging 28 points per game.
Heavily recruited during his time with Findlay Prep, Diane was ranked as a four-star recruit by Scout.com and a three-star prospect by Rivals.com.Â
His father, Keletigui Diane played at the professional level in Senegal and also competed for his country's national team.
Diane joins incoming freshmen Terrell Gomez (Inglewood High School/Middlebrooks Academy) and Jalon Pipkins (Paris High School) and transfers Kobe Paras (Creighton) and Carl Brown (Mt. San Jacinto College) as the newest members of the Matador roster. Â
