Facility will be renamed "DeYoung Family Men’s Volleyball Locker Room” After Major Donation
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The CSUN Department of Intercollegiate Athletics today announced a major gift that will fund the renovation of the men's volleyball locker room. In honor of Dennis DeYoung and his family, who made the generous donation, the locker room will be re-named the "DeYoung Family Men's Volleyball Locker Room."
The men's volleyball locker room, located on the south end of Redwood Hall, will be improved in a number of ways. The facility enhancements will include visual displays, updated player lockers, a new instructional space as well as new seating and new flooring.
"My family and I are thrilled to support CSUN Athletics and the CSUN Men's Volleyball team, said DeYoung. "We have incredible confidence in Coach Campbell and his team and are excited to be able to contribute to the endless potential of CSUN Men's Volleyball."
DeYoung and his wife Carrie are CSUN alums and longtime supporters of the university and of business in the San Fernando Valley. Carrie DeYoung graduated in 1986 from the College of Business and Economics and is the Director of Agility for the American Kennel Club. Dennis DeYoung graduated with a degree in business administration in 1987 and works as a stockbroker and certified financial planner.
"Dennis is a great supporter of CSUN Athletics and men's volleyball," said CSUN Men's Volleyball Head Coach Jeff Campbell. "His generous gift towards our new locker room will help us in recruiting and competing with the other top volleyball programs in the country. This gift will go a long way in helping us attract the type of student-athletes that we need to win a national championship, which is our ultimate goal."
The CSUN Men's Volleyball team is currently ranked 10th in the AVCA Coaches Top-15 national poll and hosts No. 3 Hawai'i in a key Big West Conference series this Thursday and Friday (Mar. 15-16) at The Matadome.
