CSUN Tennis Plays Three Home Duals This Week

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The CSUN women's tennis team concludes a season long home stand this week with three duals.

The Matadors (2-5) host Drake (10-3) Wednesday afternoon beginning at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs' Summer Brills is 18-8 in singles while Tess Herder is 16-8. Brills is 12-5 in doubles action this season.

CSUN welcomes Texas State to Northridge on Friday for a 2 p.m. start. The Bobcats are 2-8 to begin the week. Texas State will be at San Diego on Thursday prior to the CSUN dual. Alex Jones has won a team high six singles matches (6-11). Julia Navajo-Melendez, J and Ana Perez are 7-5 in doubles action this season.

The week concludes Saturday when the Matadors host Harvard at 10 a.m. The Crimson are 6-7 and will play at UC Santa Barbara on Friday before heading over to Northridge. Neha
Gupta is the team leader in singles victories (17-5). Natasha Gonzalez and EricaOosterhou and Anna Li/Annika Ringblom are doubles teams that have 10-5 records.

CSUN is coming off a 5-2 victory over Youngstown State last Saturday. CSUN opened the dual by picking up the doubles point as Skyla Alcon and Monika Van de Vondel defeated Sofia Macias and Tamara Teufl 6-2 and Alicia Dinkelmeyer and Mari Taslagyan won 6-2 over Noelly Longi Naimba and Imaan Hassim 6-2.
The final doubles match went to the Penguins as Cassandra Moraleja and Lucia Zagar defeated Arpe Bagumyan and Scout Shutter 6-3.
Singles play opened with Youngstown State's Longi Naimba defeating Alcon 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1. Van de Vonde then got CSUN on the board with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Sofia Macias at No. 2. The No. 3 match also went to the Matadors as Dinkelmeyer topped Anastasiia Khokhlova 6-4, 6-3.
The Penguins kept their hopes alive when Teufl defeated Bagumyan 7-6, 6-4 at No. 5 but Shutter defeated Moraleja at No. 6 (6-3, 6-4) to clinch the CSUN win. Taslagyan closed the dual with a three-set win at No. 4.
