Complete All-Big West Team
NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Women's Soccer's Cindy Arteaga collected her first career All-Big West First Team honor while Hayden Mauldin was placed on the All-Freshman Team, the league office announced on Saturday.
A forward from Santa Rosa, Arteaga had a career year for the Matadors in 2022. She finished the season with a personal-best nine goals and 19 points, both of which ranked second-best in The Big West. Her nine goals this past season were the second-most in a single season in CSUN history while her point total was the seventh-most. Arteaga pushed her career goal tally to 12, which ranks eighth-best in the CSUN record books.

Arteaga scored four of her nine goals in Big West play, highlighted by a two-goal performance in the season finale win at UC Riverside (4-2) on Oct. 27. She would record two braces this season with the other coming on Sept. 18 in a 2-0 win over Portland State. Arteaga appeared in all 19 games, making 17 starts while she played full time in five contests. She took 78 shots on the year with 37 on goal.
Arteaga, who will graduate in the spring, completed her third season with the Matadors in 2022. Over her career, she has appeared in 60 matches and started 50 times while accumulating 29 points and five assists. A two-time Big West Offensive Player of the Week winner in 2022, Arteaga is a first-time all-conference selection this season.
"There is not a more deserving player for this award than Cindy," said head coach Christine Johnson. "Her tenacity and toughness are the hallmarks of her on field performance, but she brings so much more to our team in her leadership and the example she sets for others."

A Bakersfield native, Mauldin stepped into the starting goalkeeper role near the end of non-conference play and would make 11 consecutive starts. Mauldin totaled 55 saves in 990 minutes while posting a .714 save percentage. Her 5.00 saves per game average ranked second-best in The Big West.
After recovering from an injury prior to the season, Mauldin made her CSUN debut on Sept. 3 against sixth-ranked BYU. She made a season-high 10 saves in her second game of the year against nationally-ranked USC (Sept. 8). In total, Mauldin made seven starts in Big West play, posted 32 saves with a 1.86 GAA.
"Hayden's potential is off the charts and this recognition is proof of that," said Johnson. "She has the intangible qualities that shift the outcome of a game and we are excited to see how she continues to develop and grow."
