After a week off, CSUN resumes play with a dual at UCLA on Thursday at 2 p.m. before opening Big West play at Cal Poly on Saturday at 11 a.m.

ABOUT UCLA
UCLA is 2-2 after defeating Rice 4-3 last Friday in San Diego. UCLA has three players ranked in the current ITA Top 125; No. 52 Ava Catanzarite (10-5), No. 70 Fangran Tian (11-5), and No. 82 Kimmi Hance (11-10). At 10-3, Hance and Elise Wagle are ranked 11th in ITA Top 60.

Thursday is only the fifth time CSUN and UCLA are playing women's tennis, with the Bruins leading the all-time series 4-0.

ABOUT CAL POLY
The Mustangs fell to 1-3 on the year with a 5-2 loss to Fresno State on Feb. 12. Alexandra Ozeretsv is the lone Cal Poly player with a winning singles record as she is 3-1, playing primarily out of the No. 6 slot. Eliza Bates/Kennedy Buntrock and Eliza Bates/Kennedy Buntrock are doubles teams that have each won twice this season for Cal Poly. Â

CSUN and Cal Poly are playing for the 57th time, with the Matadors leading the all-time series 30-26.

ZHYTELNA NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CSUN's Yuliia Zhytelna was named Big West Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference announced on Feb. 8.

Zhytelna won her third consecutive singles match (3-1 overall) on Feb. 4 when she defeated Santa Clara's Finley Kalinic 6-0, 6-2. Zhytelna has lost four games during her singles winning streak. Zhytelna and her doubles partner Sasha Turchak were leading Kalinic and Velizara Fileva 3-1 at No. 2 doubles before the dual ended due to rain. Zhytelna and Turchak are 2-1 in doubles play this season. The Matadors improved to 3-1 on the year with a 4-2 defeat of the Broncos.

Zhytelna is the first CSUN player to earn Big West Player of the Week honors since Jolene Coetzee was awarded the prize on Mar. 17, 2021.
