NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—CSUN forward Kayanna Spriggs was named to the 2022-23 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators on Feb. 21.
The program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
The academic qualifications for distinction have been strengthened, with a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average required. Nominated student-athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games this season and should be a starter or important reserve on the field of play. A general sociology major, Spriggs maintains a 3.927 GPA. She has started 24 of 27 games (through Feb. 20) for the Matadors this season. She is averaging 4.8 points and 3.4 rebounds and is shooting 56% (47-84) from the field. Spriggs leads the team in blocks with 13.
All Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees in four divisions - NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, and NAIA - will be announced in mid-March.
College Sports Communicators began the distinguished Academic All-America® program in 1952, and since then, has honored more than 38,000 deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors.
