Ninth Place Finish at Big West Championship as Piar, Laur Finish in Top-25

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The CSUN women's golf team put two players in the final top-25 as the Matadors finished ninth at the conclusion of the 2023 Big West Women's Golf Championship Tuesday at Spanish Trail Country Club.
CSUN finished with rounds of 326-308-314 to finish ninth at 84-over 948. Cal Poly (893) led from start to finish to capture its third consecutive Big West crown, finishing 11 shots clear of second place Long Beach State (904). UC Riverside (909) finished third followed by Cal State Fullerton (910), UC Irvine (919), UC Davis (921), Hawai'i (930), CSU Bakersfield (943) and the Matadors.
Two CSUN players posted or matched her low round of the championship on Tuesday as freshman Gracie Piar moved up 14 spots into a tie for 21st at 17-over 233. Fellow freshman Kim Turgut also matched her best round of the championship with a 6-over 78 on Tuesday to tie for 28th.

CSUNÂ SCORES
- Piar had two birdies and 13 pars in the final round to finish at 1-over 73. She was 1-under through 12 holes on Tuesday and was still even-par through 15 before finishing bogey-par-par to finish 1-over on the day and 17-over for the championship.
- Elle Laur, CSUN's low scorer through two rounds, carded a final round 9-over 81 to slip from 21st in to a tie for 24th at 19-over 235. After posting five birdies over the first two rounds, Laur did not get under par on Tuesday but did have nine pars.
- Turgut finished one stroke behind Laur in a tie for 28th at 20-over 236. She had a team-leading three birdies in the final round to move up from 31st into a tie for 28th.Â
- Grace Bettis finished 36th at 28-over 244 after a final round 10-over 82. Bettis had her best round of the championship on Monday (78) and wound up posting rounds of 84-78-82 in her final championship.
- Fernanda Sosa Stackpole rounded out the Matador scoring as she carded a round of 12-over 84 on Tuesday to finish 38th at 39-over 255 following rounds of 88-83-84.
