
Trio of Matadors Named to Academic All-District Team

2024 Academic All-District Women's Volleyball Teams
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -Â CSUN women's volleyball had three student-athletes, Katie Kolar, Autumn Rojelio, and Tatiana Turgeon, earn Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday (Dec. 17) for their accomplishments on the court and in the classroom.
The CSC academic awards program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on and off the court each year. The academic qualifications for the distinction are a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average. Nominated student-athletes must be a sophomore academically and must have participated in at least 90 percent of the team's games this season or start 66 percent of the time.
In her first season, Kolar led the Matadors with 1,134 assists which ranks sixth in CSUN's rally scoring era for a single season. She also added 318 digs, 82 kills, 43 blocks, and 26 aces in her debut season. A two-time Big West Setter of the Week (Sept. 2, Sept. 23), Kolar finished the season ranked fourth in the Big West in assists per set (9.78) and was 12th in digs per set (2.74). She also led CSUN with 17Â double-doubles in 2024.
Rojelio also made her CSUN debut in 2024. After transferring from Ventura College, she finished the season with 214 digs, 27 assists, and a team-leading 31 aces. Rojelio ranked 19th in the Big West in aces per set at 0.27. She posted double figures in digs 11 times in 2024, highlighted by a 15-dig, 3-ace performance in the Matadors' 3-2 win at Cal State Fullerton on Oct. 5.
Turgeon, a two-year letterwinner for the Matadors, finished her sophomore season with season-highs in nearly every statistical category. The Matadors' leader in blocks (99 total), she also posted season totals of 122 kills, 35 digs, and six aces while accounting for 182.5 total points in 2024.
College Sports Communicators began the distinguished Academic All-America program in 1952, and has since honored more than 38,000 deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America scholar-athletes honors.
