CSUN Defeats Bethesda in Season Opener

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. — CSUN Women's Basketball opened its 2025–26 season with a commanding 103–13 victory over Bethesda University on Tuesday night at Premier America Credit Union Arena.
Eleven Matadors scored in the win, as CSUN (1–0) held Bethesda scoreless through the first half and led 52–0 at intermission. The Matadors shot 44% from the field, knocked down 14 three-pointers and forced 31 turnovers that led to 38 fast-break points.
Sophomore Laini Dahlin came off the bench to lead CSUN with 19 points, including five three-pointers in the fourth quarter. Rita Nazario added 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting, while Maya Contreras posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
CSUN's defense set the tone early, forcing nine turnovers in the first quarter. Bethesda (0–2) didn't score until midway through the third quarter and finished 4-for-44 (9%) from the field.
Morgan Edwards chipped in 11 points and two steals for CSUN, while Amya Moody recorded seven points, seven rebounds and five assists in 22 minutes.

- The margin of victory for the Matadors is the largest in their history at 90 points. Beating the old record that has stood since February 3, 1977 against UC Irvine. The Matadors beat the Anteaters, 113-46 in that contest.
- Jite Gbemuotor grabbed a team high 16 rebounds in her Matador debut.
- Maya Contreras secured the first Matador double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
- 12 different Matadors scored points in the team opener.
