Marcus Adams Jr. Scores Second Big West Player of the Week Award

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Men's Basketball's sophomore forward Marcus Adams Jr. collected his second Big West Player of the Week award of the season on Monday, as announced by the league office. Adams averaged 21.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in helping CSUN secure road victories over UC Irvine and UC Davis.
A native of Torrance, Adams led CSUN in scoring last week, shooting 55.6 percent from the field (15-of-27), 40.0 percent from three (6-of-15) and 87.5 percent from the free throw line (7-of-8). He also averaged 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals in 35.8 minutes per game.

Adams had a game-high 24 points last Thursday in leading CSUN to an 84-72 victory at then first-place UC Irvine. He helped the Matadors erase a four-point deficit near the midway point of the second half as CSUN went on a 14-2 run with Adams making three from three-point range over that span. Adams scored 20 of his 24 points in the second half while the Matadors outscored the Anteaters 50-35 in the period. He finished 9-of-16 from the field as well as 3-of-8 from distance. The win was CSUN's first at the Bren Events Center since 2020.
His scoring output continued in the Matadors' come-from-behind 65-62 win at UC Davis on Saturday. Adams totaled 19 points with seven rebounds in the victory as he was an efficient 6-of-11 from the floor and 3-of-7 from downtown. CSUN trailed by 12 points with less than six minutes to play before going on a 19-4 run to end the game with Adams hitting a key three late. The victory was the Matadors' first win at UC Davis since 2009.
Adams' efforts helped the Matadors reach 20 wins for the first time since the 2007-08 season while they tied a school Division I record with their seventh consecutive victory. Additionally, CSUN tied the program record for consecutive conference wins with its seventh straight.
On the season, Adams is averaging a team-high 16.3 points on 53.4 percent shooting. He also tops the Matadors with 53 made threes while he is second on the team in rebounds per game (4.9).
Adams previously earned Big West Player of the Week honors on Jan. 6 while teammate Scotty Washington has earned two weekly honors this season as well. Overall, CSUN players have won three of the last four BIg West Player of the Week awards.
CSUN (20-7, 12-4 Big West) returns home this week to take on first-place UC San Diego on Thursday at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
