CSUN Trio Collect All-Big West Awards

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---Three members of the CSUN Men's Basketball team earned All-Big West honors on Tuesday, as announced by the league office. Keonte Jones earned All-Big West First Team honors for the first time in his career while Marcus Adams Jr. was placed on the Second Team and Scotty Washington collected an Honorable Mention.

Originally from Madison, Wis., Jones started in all 31 games this season, posting new CSUN career highs in his second year with the team. Jones finished the regular season tied for the Big West lead in rebounds per game at 9.1 while he topped the Matadors in several other categories including assists (132), steals (58) and blocks (40). He would rank second in the Big West in blocks per game (1.3) along with third in assists per game (4.3) and fourth in steals per game (1.3). Jones also was third on the Matadors in scoring, averaging 12.8 points per game on 49.7 percent shooting.

A double-double machine throughout the year, Jones has 13 on the season, which ranks 18th in the nation. He would become the first Matador since Tremaine Townsend in 2008 to collect 20 rebounds in a game on Jan. 4 against UC Davis. In his career, Jones has totaled 785 points and 514 rebounds in just two seasons with the Matadors. He is also third in school history with 90 career blocked shots. His All-Big West First Team selection is the 13th in Matador history since joining the Big West.

A sophomore from Torrance, Adams had a breakout first season with CSUN as he led the team and ranked eighth in the Big West in scoring at 16.5 points per game. Adams, who played just one game last season at BYU, appeared in 31 regular season games and made 19 starts this year. He topped the team with 62 made threes on 40.0 percent shooting to go with 52.9 percent shooting overall. The 6-8 forward was also second in rebounds per game (4.9) to go with 32 steals.
Adams scored in double figures in 26 of 31 games and registered 11 performances of 20 or more points. A two-time Big West Player of the Week this season, Adams scored a season-high 28 points against UC Davis on Jan. 4 while he had a 24-point effort in a road victory at UC Irvine, which was CSUN's first since 2020. In 20 league games, Adams averaged a team-best 17.6 points to go with 42.3 percent shooting from three.

Washington, a junior from Del Amo, also had a stellar first season with the Matadors in 2024-25. The 6-4 guard was second on the team and ranked 10th in the Big West in scoring at 14.5 points over 31 starts. Washington was a sharp shooter from 3-point range all year, making 50 on 36.2 percent shooting while he was fourth in the conference in free throw percentage (86.7). He also collected 3.0 rebounds per game and totaled 30 steals.
During the year, Washington earned a total of two Big West Player of the Week awards. He also improved his scoring average to 15.9 to go with 46.0 percent shooting overall and 42.0 percent from 3-point range against Big West opponents. Overall, he reached double figures in scoring in 21 games including posting seven 20-point games. Washington scored a career-high 29 points with five made threes in a win over Cal Poly on Feb. 15.
CSUN will open its stay at the 2025 Big West Championship with a quarterfinal game against either UC Santa Barbara or Cal State Bakersfield this Thursday at 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
