CSUN Takes 6th at Bruin Wave Invitational as Piar Finishes 11th Individually

VALENCIA, Calif. - Senior Gracie Piar posted her fifth top 20 finish of the season, tying for 11th to lead the CSUN Women's Golf team to a sixth-place finish at the conclusion of the Bruin Wave Invitational on Tuesday at Valencia Country Club.
Piar, who opened the tournament with rounds of 71-74 on Monday, had five birdies in the final round. Four of her birdies came on a stretch of six holes (8-13) where she got her round as low as 2-under. Four pars and a bogey 5 at No. 17 dropped her to 1-under 71 on the day and even-par 216 for the event. Piar now has second, third, sixth, ninth, and 11th place finishes this season.
As a team, CSUN followed up scores of 296-302 over the first two rounds with a final round 13-over 301, which left the Matadors in sixth place in the 14-team field. Top-ranked Stanford claimed the team championship at 21-under 843, winning by 22 shots over second-place Pepperdine (+1, 865). Stanford's Paula Martin Sampedro (-7, 209) took home individual medalist honors by one shot over teammate Andrea Revuelta (-6, 210).

- Following Piar, senior Kim Turgut narrowly missed a top 20 finish, tying for 22nd at 8-over 224 after an even-par 72 on Tuesday. Turgut had four birdies - all coming on the back nine - where she finished 4-under after finishing her opening nine holes at 4-over.
-  Ariya Soldwisch followed up round of 75-77 on Monday with a 7-over 79 on Tuesday to finish 41st at 15-over 231.
- Nicole Tanoue, who opened the day tied for 42nd, also carded a 7-over 79 in the final round to slip into a tie for 43rd at 17-over 233.
- Meghan Paracuelles rounded out the Matador scoring, tying for 59th at 21-over 237 following rounds of 77-76-84.
